Examining the role of work stress on the relationship between cyberloafing and the performance of universities professors in accounting

Abstract

Introduction: This research has been conducted with the aim of examining the effects of cyberloafing on the performance of university accounting professors, taking into account the mediating role of work stress.

research methodology: This research is among quantitative studies and the number of samples was equal to 273 people. Research data was collected using a questionnaire. The partial least squares structural equation modeling method was used to test the hypotheses.

Findings: The results of this research using the structural equation modeling method showed that cyberloafing has positive effects on the performance of accounting professors and work stress. Also, work stress has a positive effect on the performance of accounting professors. In addition, the results indicated that work stress has both a mediating role and a moderating role in the relationship between cyberloafing and the performance of accounting professors.

Conclusion: Cyberloafing and work stress are phenomena that play an important and significant role on the performance of university accounting professors and should be viewed as a double-edged sword.
