Conceptualization of teachers' competence in teacher training centers from the professors' point of view; A combined study

Abstract

Introduction: Human resources, especially teachers, play a central role in the education process. Considering this importance, this research was conducted with the aim of exploring and compiling the competency model of teachers.

Research methodology: In terms of design, the research was a part of hybrid research. The research participants in the qualitative part were 16 faculty members of the universities of Shiraz, Tarbiat Moalem, Shahid Chamran, Ahvaz, Kermanshah, and Tehran Research Sciences in the field of educational sciences. Continuation of the theoretical saturation technique, were selected. "Semi-structured interview" was used to collect data. In order to analyze the data, the theme analysis method was used. Next, data coding was done to identify the factors, criteria and pattern indicators. The primary model was formed with the help of the theme analysis method. In the quantitative part, in order to validate the model, the statistical sample consisted of 66 faculty members of the universities of Fars province, who were selected purposefully. The research tool in the quantitative part was the questionnaire resulting from the qualitative part (priority determination checklist) whose validity and reliability were confirmed. Finally, the results were validated using confirmatory factor analysis and alignment was done.

Findings: The design and compilation of the proposed model was suitable for the competence of teachers in the form of research, psychological, managerial, scientific and ethical dimensions.

Discussion and conclusion: The findings of this study have been directed to the formation of teachers' competencies in the fields of research, psychology, management, science and ethics in accordance with teacher training centers, which can be used as a guide for teacher education. .
