Investigating the role of organizational virtuousness in organizational citizenship behavior teachers: The findings of a quantitative study in secondary schools of Karaj city

Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive-correlational study is to investigate the relationship between organizational virtuousness and organizational citizenship behavior of teachers. 403 secondary school teachers of four areas of Karaj metropolitan were selected using cluster sampling method. Organizational virtuousness scale (Cameron & et al, 2004) and organizational citizenship behavior scale (DiPaola, Tarter & Hoy, 2004) were used to collect data. After the reliability and construct validity analysis, research questions were responded with the Pearson correlation coefficient and standard  multiple regression. Results showed a meaningful correlation between organizational virtuousness and teachers organizational citizenship behavior. Also multiple regression showed that among the five dimensions of organizational Virtuousness (optimism, trust, compassion, integrity and forgiveness), just optimism and forgiveness have significant explaintion from organizational citizenship behavior of teachers. The findings of this study emphasizes the reinforcement of the of the organizational virtuousness subscale in schools
