Analyzing the perception of Kurdistan University professors about the challenges of human resources in higher education and providing solutions to reduce them

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the perception of professors of Kurdistan University about the challenges of human resources in higher education and providing solutions to reduce it. The research approach was qualitative, which was implemented with the phenomenological strategy. The potential participants of the research were the professors of Sanandaj Kurdistan University in various fields. Sampling was done by a combined method (targeted and snowball). Semi-structured interviews were continued with 12 faculty members with maximum variety and until theoretical data saturation. After the implementation, the data were analyzed inductively and by Bonnie Glazeri's two-step coding method. MAXQDAv2020 qualitative data analysis software was also used to output the core categories of the research. The research findings identified 7 main components as human resources challenges in higher education, including the employment and attrition of professors, the lack of management of diversity in relation to the activities of individuals, the weakness of the application of socialization, the lack of personnel with the ability to carry out research projects, the short-sightedness of managers regarding the allocation of financial resources, It revealed work-life conflict and lack of team building events. Also, 5 main categories as solutions to reduce the human resources challenge in higher education, including interpersonal networking of university researches, succession planning, emergence of achievement sharing management, self-development and comprehensive monitoring and monitoring were calculated from the research data.
