This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of positivism skills training via group method on progress motivation, self-esteem and happiness of first grade high school boy students in Jiroft. In a pilot study 120 students selected drawing on cluster sampling completed three questionnaires including Hermence Progress Motivation Inventory (HPMI), Oxford Happiness Criterion (OHC) and Rosenberg Self-esteem Inventory (RSEI). From among the pilot study sample 28 students with the lowest score were selected randomly. They were assigned randomly to two equal groups of control (N=14) and experimental (N=14). The experimental group participated in 8 sessions (1.5 hours each) of positivism skills training. However, the control group, as expected, received no treatment. They all, then, took the instruments again as post tests after an interval of one week. Data analysis employing independent t-test indicated that that positivism skills training had statistically significant effect on progress motivation and happiness. However, no significant relationship was found between the training and the students’ self- esteem.
